History & The Team

Via Maris History

Via Maris Shipyard was born from what began as an unfortunate — or perhaps fortunate — storm of events.

In 2018, our parent company, Peschaud International, secured a contract in Gabon to build a series of seven 19-meter crew boats, now well known as the CB19.

Construction was initially outsourced to a boatbuilding company in Cape Town, South Africa. However, in 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted operations, Peschaud decided to take over the operations and oversee the completion of the vessels.

This decision presented a dual opportunity: not only to build new vessels, but also the potential to service and refit the more than 100 vessels within the Peschaud fleet.

In 2022, Via Maris Shipyard was officially registered, and the facility quickly set a steady course achieving ISO 9001 certification within just two years and proudly launching our 20th new-build vessel within three.

Our Team

At Via Maris, a culture of innovation and continual improvement flows throughout the shipyard, and is evident in every aspect of the high-quality vessels that the shipyard and our team produces.
